The weather has been unusual for Maine in January with the temperature nearing 50 degrees a couple of days last week. When I drove into Rockland yesterday morning I noticed that a couple of ice fishing shacks had gone through the ice. I guess with all of the warm weather and rain the ice is not very thick. We are back to normal temperatures now and it is snowing hard this afternoon so at least it feels like it should be January and not May. The latest weather story is that we will get 3 to 6 inches up from the inch or two they were talking about this morning.

Our weather has been pretty warm for January and we seem to be having a little snow almost every other day. The best part is that there is not much wind with these little storms so the snow covers everything like confectioners sugar. Drifting down on each branch, limb and pine needle, making our outdoors a winter scene from inside of one of those snow globes. It is snowing hard this morning and we are scheduled to get a few inches followed by a warm up mid week that will have our temperatures in the 30's. Not to hard to take and definitely easy on the wood pile.

I would like to wish you a great Holiday Season and the very best New Year. I have enjoyed another excellent year, met a lot of new folks and spent time with old friends. With more time fishing and boating than I could have ever dreamed and several weeks in northern Maine bird hunting with a couple of good dogs. I am the first to admit to being spoiled.
