New Hunters

My guide service specializes in providing outdoor experiences to folks who are new to an activity and helping them be successful while learning. Learn to Fly fish Trips and Family Fishing Trips are some examples of how I do that. This fall and the fall before I had the chance to introduce some first time ever hunters to grouse and woodcock hunting. One at Libby Camps and here in Union I recently took Sharon Kitchens food writer with the Portland Press Herald on her first ever hunt.

Thankful

I am inside by a warm fire as I write this outside the winter wind is blowing and the temperatures have begun to plummet (headed in to the teens tonight). The dogs are in their kennel boxes luxuriating in the warmth of the office. Later this week the possibility of our first snowstorm of the season is a real possibility.

Megunticook Lake Hot and Cold

The last fishing trip of the 2013 season was yesterday. A father and son excursion that we hoped would be a great time. This late in the fall I schedule trips for mid-day to take advantage of the warmer temperatures and we started at 11. The day before I fished the lake to see what our prospects might be and was delighted. I found pods of rainbow trout on the surface in several locations.
