October is a very busy month and I split my time between Union and T8R9 in northern Maine guiding at Libby Camps. Most but not all of my days are spent guiding upland bird hunters with the rest going to fishing trips. Spending so much time outdoors leads to lots of interesting wildlife sightings.
Yesterday I guided a pair of anglers on Megunticook Lake in Camden. After last Friday’s rain the lake has come up a full eighteen inches and the water temperature fell five degrees. A strong west wind blew at times up to thirty miles per hour. 
Needless to say fishing was slow!
October always has me guiding a variety of trips every year but this year has even more variety than other years. Last weekend was spent fishing with a family. Saturday we fished on Megunticook Lake in Camden. The weather was cool and very windy, we did manage to catch a few fish but the fall scenery was the best part of the trip to be sure. Staying out of the strong wind was important for everyone’s comfort.
