Leave them there! That is the tagline from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife about young animals in the spring. To make that point. This morning I was on my way to a boat launch and saw 
a deer just off of the side of the road. She clearly did not want to leave as I approached and when she did leave did not go far. A couple of easy hops into the woods.
The tide was very early this morning. It was not dark when I pushed the boat off of the trailer but only because it was June. 4:45 Am and only 43 degrees with a rising easterly wind. The plan was to do a quick 
look around for any stripers that might be in the river.
This weekend is Maine’s free fishing weekend (June 2 AND 3, 2018) and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is encouraging everyone to get outside and enjoy a day fishing with family or 
friends.
